Bonnie & Ronnie Thompson

Ronnie Thompson - Three years ago, Ronnie was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent multiple surgeries and chemotherapy treatment. About 18 months after treatment he was considered to be in remission. This October, only days after his wife returned home from major abdominal surgery, he fell at home and was brought to the hospital and found to have a brain tumor. He has undergone two major brain surgeries in a course of four days for a total of 30 hours of surgery. During the second surgery he suffered a pretty extensive stroke that required an extended period of hospitalization. He was finally discharged to a rehab facility, but soon suffered a significant infection requiring an emergent surgery on Thanksgiving. He has recovered well from that and is back in intensive rehab, hoping that he will be able to return home in the next few wekks to months. He is also to begin radiation for the brain tumor shortly.

Sadly, this past weekend Ronnie Thompson passed away. Goody the Polar Bear and all of the volunteers, jumpers, and helpers of the Polar Bear Jump send our prayers and thoughts to Ronnie's family.

Bonnie Thompson - wife of Ronnie - was diagnosed this spring with pancreatic cancer. She has undergone multiple surgeries last of which was the beginning of October; returning home only days before Ronnie's diagnosis. She presently is undergoing her second round of chemotherapy that is to last about six weeks.

Due to their acute illnesses, they both have had multiple hospitalizations over the past few months and are presently unable to work.
