This is Declan. He was born on April 18, 2017. Declan stayed in the hospital for four days with hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice. Everything seemed to regulate and we were released from the hospital. We went for our first well-baby visit and Declan’s temperature was significantly low. We were transported to the NICU unit in AMC. After a series of tests, Declan was diagnosed with Hypopituitarism with adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism and Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. Declan’s pituitary gland and optic nerves never fully developed. He will be on medications to manage his condition and will be under the care of an endocrinologist for the rest of his life.  Declan is also blind. Despite these obstacles, he never seizes to amaze everyone he meets. He is loving, sweet, playful boy.
